You did a good math here. Thanks for sharing this sentiment. I also disagree in this $2 per hour virus, but this is more of a personal mindset for Filipinos who want to be a highly paid VA entrepreneur. People are going to pay you based on what you think you are worth. $2 per mindset is totally different from a three-figure an hour mindset, but of course there are another debate pertaining to this mindset gap.

Keep updating Chel. This blog is really informative. :)

Chel, I would have to give you a standing ovation for this post... lol. I have been in a webinar training series for VAs last month and this has always been my problem--the rate! VAs in the US are charging a minimum of $25/hour for the same type of work that we do, and that doesn't include specialized knowledge such as internet marketing and social media marketing. And it hurts to know that some clients think that around $200 a month should be enough for us to survive, just because the Philippines has a lower cost of living, being in a 3rd world country. Now I think they have to bear in mind that they are hiring VAs who work at home, who have their own computer, and have bills to pay such as internet connection, electricity, etc. They can't expect a rate at $2 or below that to be enough. We don't live in the mountains and eat sweet potato for our meals, if we were, we wouldn't be working as VAs.

Well said, Chel. They should also take in to consideration those work at home moms that have babies like me. I need to buy formula milk every week as well as distilled water and diapers. Also, when they want to hire a Filipino VA they can be rest assured, more often than not, that they will be able to hire a responsible, dependable and honest VA. The Filipinos are the best worker one can hire in my opinion. We will give you the best result from our work and the worth of the money they pay for.
